Abstract

Owing to mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) immunosuppressive, angiogenic, and tissue regeneration abilities and multilineage differentiation potential, MSCs are being used in cell therapy and regenerative medicine. On the other hand, there are many unclear points about the mode of action of treatment using MSCs. It is very difficult to analyze which function of MSCs the required efficacy depends on, and at present, there is no internationally established method for MSCs quality evaluation. Since there are many parts that do not apply to the concept of pharmaceuticals, it is necessary to establish an evaluation concept that is specific to stem cell processed products.
