Abstract

Microbubbles are fine bubbles whose diameter is less than 100 μm. They have various unique characteristics and a drag reducing effect. But it is hard to say that the relationship between microbubbles and the drag reduction effect has been clarified. Therefore the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of microbubbles on flow around a blunt body and its acceleration. When a blunt body was fell into water containing microbubbles, it fell quickly. And there was a difference in acceleration compared to the case without microbubbles. The terminal velocity and the condition with microbubbles became larger.
