Academic strides has been made on studies concerning Chinese education, as an example, educational history, politics and system. What seems to be lacking, however, is micro analysis of minority education, especially in isolated districts. I had worked in China as a Research Attache of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Consulate General in Guangzhou for the last two years (Apr.2000-Mar.2002). At the time I conducted fieldwork on several occasions to understand the truth of minority education, interviewed officials, teachers and farmers and their children. Pursuing these questions in interview, I almost reached the core of problem of diffusing compulsory education in isolated districts in China.
