Oyama is one of the agricultural hamlets, composing Tukigase-villege in the north-eastern hill area of Nara prefecture. And, it is the centre of the political, economic and the other daily lives of the villege inhabitants, and the base of the sights of the plum grove. Except the farmers in Oyama, many inhabitants engage in non-agricultural work as commuting labourers, many other open the shops as a side business for the seasonal sightseers and several open the various stores for the villege inhabitants. And so, the most of households have the various incomes from their members. About 70% of households are till of "stem family" type and more than 60% of the heads of households in Oyama want to live with their parents or married children, in spite of the small families increasing. In the household of stem family type (III-d), the head of the household pays much of his income for the domestic economy but his succesor partially contributes to it.
