The Language Policy of English Education in Japanese Junior High School : A New Approach based on Yakudoku as Scaffolding

Description
The purpose of this paper is to reevaluate the meaning of Yakudoku (Grammar-Translation Reading Method) and make a suggestion to conduct effective English education at the stage of junior high school. Let us present a brief overview of this paper. It consists of three parts. First, we take up current conditions of Japanese English education policies in Chapter 2. The following chapters, i.e. Chapter 3 and 4, reevaluate translation and show new Yakudoku method to propose concrete policy. Finally, it will be proposed in Chapter 5 a new approach to English Education at the junior high school level.
