Abstract

We are developing the numerical model called the RIAM-COMPACT (Research Institute for Applied Mechanics, Kyushu University, COMputational Prediction of Airflow over Complex Terrain). The object domain of this numerical model is from several m to several km, and can predict the airflow and the gas diffusion over complex terrain with high precision. As for RIAM-COMPACT, the spread to the market has already been begun by three enterprise companies. The estimation of the annual electrical power output is also possible now based on the observation data. In this method, it is assumption that there is a strong correlation between the reference point and the evaluation point. Then, the correlations of the wind speed and wind direction are investigated by using the observation data measured with the anemometer equipped with the nacelle. As a result, it was shown that both of wind speed and wind direction had strong correlations at an altitude of more than the height of the hub.
