Description
The purpose of the present study applies the focus to Isadora Duncan who renovated the modern dance in the 20th century, considers her relation to music and nature-views that furthermore influence the relation, and clarifies her outlook on music. Isadora's dance showed us some different aspects from the ballet of the 19th century. She denied the pas of the ballet, took off the toe shoes, and put on the tunic which didn't tighten the body. She was to dance with the concepts of “the sensibility”, “freedom”, and “nature”. But it is most important for her how to cope with music. The relation with music influenced even future generations. Isadora used “an existing music” composed by the renowned composer without using the ballet music. The interpretation of the “an existing music” considered neither the content nor the structure of music, but the relation between music and movement. Isadora Duncan was a person who became the starting point of the dance in the 20th century.
