Abstract

This study argues that investments for the improvement of interventions are concentratedat the police and armed forces. During Japan’s neoliberalism policy of the 1990s, many youngindividuals committed crimes because they lost meaning in their lives, their friendships, andtheir hopes of the future. Kato Tomohiro, a criminal from the Akihabara affair, was arrested bythe Japanese police because he went against the law. His judgment must be considered on thebasis of on our current social understanding. However, considering the method of his crime, weshould create a system that is external to current policies. We should work toward a practicethat generates a new social system, and not one that considers the affair to an individual problem. Therefore, this study pursues the possibility of mediating cont radiction and practice. The findings are as follows: 1) Cooperation is the foundation for living in peace; 2)Reconstructing young people’s lives requires intervention and genuine cooperation; 3) Cooperationbuilds the community, which comprises memory, camaraderie, and labor; 4) Community is basedon a condition of liberty for achieving work choices among young people. Based on these findings, we should invest in such interventions, however, not aimed towa rd the police and armed forces.
