Abstract

In this article, I examine how the theory of Risk society could contribute to the problem of globalization and 'the Third Way'. .In the process of globalization, the Welfare State can't keep pace with the contemporary social change; ecological risk, new type of exclusion, challenge of neoliberalism. Now, famous sociologists, like Anthony Giddens and Pierre Bourdieu, Ulrich Beck, are engaged in the challenge of globalization and neoliberalism. While Bourdieu identify globalization with neoliberalism, Beck distinguish 'globalization' from 'globalism' that is an ideology of neoliberalism. Globalization is developing at the multidimensional (ecological, political, civil society) levels and shouldn't be reduced to the economic globalization. Against the domination of world market that is destroying the material foundation of the nation state, Beck propose the concept of 'Civil Work' and 'Transnational State'. But this proposition presupose the construction of European Union, and the fiscal problem still not resolved.
