Description

This paper introduces theory and practice of causal inference and discusses how to esti- mate causal effects. We fi rst discuss how randomized experiments allows us to assess causal effects and then turn to observational studies. We lay out the assumptions needed for causal inference and describe the leading analysis methods, including regression, instrumental vari- ables, regression discontinuity and differences-in-differences.
