The authors investigated the inoculating effect of Ca-Si for solidification process of molton cast irons which contain various manganese contents by means of determination of cooling currves. The results of this experiment showed that inoculation prevented molton metal from super-cooling at the eutictic temperature. The microscopic tests of the irons showed that inoculation modified super cooled graphite form into normal graphite form.

鋳鉄に対する接種作用の研究は極めて多いが冷却曲線から考察したものはあまり多くない。本実験においては特に鋳鉄を白銑化するMnを種々変えて，Mnの白銑化作用と接種剤の黒鉛化作用の二つの相反する作用が鋳鉄の冷却曲線にどのように影響をおよぼすか，又冷却曲線の形状と鋳鉄の顕微鏡組織との関連性について調べてみる。
