私が東邦大学で奉職した39 年間の医学的業績の展望は4 つの個別分野での注意深い観察と研究に表される.すなわち,1)胎児期,成熟期,廃用萎縮,絞扼性神経障害における動物実験および臨床的筋生検での組織学的,組織化学的研究である.2)多岐にわたる伝統的な手外科の臨床は治療法の選択においてきわめて重要である.具体的には重度の手根管症候群に対する対立筋再建術,不可逆性となった変形麻痺手に対する腱移行再建術,骨折型にとらわれることなく橈骨遠位端骨折などである.3)肩関節周囲炎例における低反応レベルレーザー治療の臨床的有効性の評価について,検討項目はレーザー照射前後における肩関節の可動域とともに血清プロスタグランジン値である.4)閉経後の退行性骨粗鬆症と筋力低下からみた脆弱性大腿骨頸部骨折の危険因子の検討である.すべての投稿論文が学問的独創性を有しているとは言えない.しかし,出版された論文の科学的内容は近い将来において,さらなるevidence-based medicine(EBM)に役立つものと確信している.The important medical achievements to which I have dedicated my 39 years atTohoUni-versity School of Medicine were in 4 areas: (1) the histological and histochemical study of experimental and clinical muscle biopsies,i.e., embryonic and mature tissues, disuse atrophy, and entrapment neuropathy;(2) hand surgery in diverse clinical fields (e.g., opponensplasty for patients with severe carpal tunnel syn-drome, reconstructive tendon transfer for paralytic hand deformity, andfracture of the distal radius, regard-less of subtype); (3) evaluation of the clinical effectiveness of low-level laser therapy for pain in patients with periarthritis scapulohumeralis (items evaluated were range of motion ofthe involved shoulder and concomi-tant serum prostaglandin E2 levels before and after irradiation); and (4) assessment of the risk profile of post-menopausal hip fracture and osteoporosis relevant to phasic muscle weakness. Although not all the pub-lished articles were of great originality, the high-quality published reports will advance evidence-based medicine.
