The Port Hamilton incident is the result of a struggle for supremacy between Russia and the UK. It is also an indication that a new interest competition between the powers is going to start in Northeast Asia. As the wake of the incident, Qing, British, Russian and Japan respectively made adjustment on the Far East strategy, The Northeast Asian political situation appeared the new changes. Therefore, the Port Hamilton incident can be called an important turning point in the political history of Northeast Asia. This paper will analysis the Port Hamilton incident to re-examine the complex international relations in Northeast Asia at the end of the 19th century, and review the historical development of the Qing's Northeast Asia policy to the Port Hamilton incident. At the same time this paper will also clarify the Qing's policy coordination on Northeast Asia policy which caused by the changes of international situation after the Port Hamilton incident.
