Abstract
Anionic block copolymerization of 4-methacryloyloxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-oxyl (TEMA) with 2-diethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DEAEMA) was carried out in THF at -78°C in the presence of LiCl. In addition, the resulting copolymer were reacted with C_8 F_17 COOH in order to ntroduce the ionic bond-formed perfluorooctyl group at PDEAEMA segment. The resulting copolymers always possessed controlled molecular weights and rather narrow molecular weight distributions. The characteristic signal for TEMPO radical was observed in ESR spectra of the block copolymers. These results clearly showed the coexistence of TEMPO radical with carbanionic species during the reactions. The redox potential of the copolymers was studied by a cyclic voltammetry.
