The purpose of this study was to investigate the interrelationships of physical fitness, blood profiles and bone density in elderly women performing regularly water exercise. Subjects were 61 elderly women aged from 43 to 78 performing regularly water exercises for 1.5 ± 0.7 hours, 3.9 ± 1.9 days per week and measured including anthropometric measures, physical fitness levels, blood profiles and bone density. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for statistical treatment. As results, the age correlated significantly with height in the anthropometric measures, knee extension strength, one leg balance with eyes closed and sit and reach in physical fitness tests, blood glucose, bone density and the ratio of bone density to young adult mean in bone density. In conclusion, regular water exercise in elderly women might provide the benefit to physical fitness including knee extension strength, sit and reach and estimated VO2max, but not to bone density.
