Abstract

The present experiment was designed to produce the synthesized amphiploid in order to clarify whether diploid punctata was the doner of B genome or not. 1. Three amphiploids, 4 x-2, 4 x-3 and KB 23, were produced with colchicine treatment from the F, plants between diploid punctata and species with the C genome. 2. Morphological characters of the synthesized amphiploids were similar to those of tetraploid punctata (BBCC) except for the grain size. 3. The number of bivalents at MI of PMC's in the synthesized amphiploids ranged from 22 to 24 with a mean of 23.60 in 4 x-2, 21 to 24 with a mean of 23.07 in 4 x-3 and 21 to 24 with a mean of 22.67 in KB 23.4. The seed fertilities of the synthesized amphiploid were extremely higher than those of the Fl plant which show completely sterile. 5. In the synthesized amphiploids, the results suggest that almost all of homologous chromosomes pair normaly at MI of the PMC's.
