The purpose of this article is to propose a framework for elementary school teachers to foster children’s empathy in the classroom. After discussing the necessity of fostering children’s empathy, we reviewed past studies on empathy, from five perspectives; (1) the genesis of the concept and its historical changes, (2) the biological foundation, (3) the generation process, (4) tell development of empathy, and (5) the experimental interventions for advancing the children's empathy. Based on the reviews, we proposed a new framework, which can overcome the past issues and have higher ecological validity plan previous frameworks, and suggested future directions.
