Abstract

The diagnostic technique was developed for the measurement of the density and the velocity distribution function of impurities mixed into high temperature plasmas, by using a laser resonance scattering method in which a tunable laser was employed. Problems in the technique of the calibration of the density and of the measurement of the velocity distribution function were solved by the precise laser resonance scattering experiment, in which the iron vapour from a Knudsen cell, whose density and velocity distribution function are accurately adjustable, was excited by a flashlamp-pumped dye laser light.
