Abstract

It is known that a length of guide tube of pressure measurement equipment affects strongly measurements of unsteady wind pressure. This paper reports some effects of the tube length on measurements of gusty wind pressure on a gabled roof model under short-rise time gusts by wind tunnel test. It was found that average wind pressure under a steady wind flow is not influenced by the tube length. However, the deviation of wind pressure decreases with a guide tube length, so that the frequency component of wind pressure exceeding 10 Hz reduces remarkably in case of more than 3m tube length. The coefficients of peak wind pressure under a short-rise time gust also decrease with guide tubes length. The rate of reduction of the peak coefficient wind pressure varies at measurement points.
