Abstract
This purpose of this study was to examine nurses who worked in terminal care unit has burnout score related to their Sense of Coherence (SOC) score. The subjects were 48 nurses working in 3 public hospitals or city. And there were 66 nurses working in one university hospital, the addition of 48 and 66 gives us 114 nurses. The scales used were the Pines’s Burnout Inventory in Japanese and the SOC scale in Japanese. The results were as follows ; 1) The attribute was significantly associated with religion. A parson who has religion was high burnout score and has low SOC total score with significantly. 2) A negative correlation was found between the burnout score and all items that were SOC score. These findings suggested that the nurses who worked in terminal care unit have low burnout score ; therefore she has strength SOC ability. Finally, the nurse who has strength SOC ability dose not falls into a burnout.
