This paper focuses on Advanced Placement (AP) of the United States in the case of diversifying articulation between upper secondary schools and universities in China. The study will clarify the situation of AP's implementation, its characteristics and positioning in China by first introducing the types, characteristics and the recent trend of the Chinese University's entrance examination system as well as considering the introduction and characteristics of AP in China. As a result, AP is expected to foster human resources required for a new era as an attempt of a new articulation between upper secondary schools and universities in China. The fact that AP is being implemented by many international schools and international departments of public schools shows that AP is being positioned as an effective means for accessing universities overseas. In addition, it can be seen that international students are also used as one of the evaluation criteria when entering Chinese universities. On the other hand, the applicability of AP in Chinese universities and credit certification for Chinese students are taken up as issues. Secondly, AP must consider the fusion with the curriculum guidelines of China in the new university entrance examination system. Furthermore, in order to implement and expand on a nationwide scale, continuous support from the Board of Education is also necessary. Finally, in order to provide articulation between upper secondary schools and universities for programs similar to AP on a nationwide level, the quality of the faculty must be guaranteed and will be considered as topics for future tasks.
