Abstract
Recently, in the area of special education, a great deal of attention has been attracted to TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren). TEACCH is a comprehensive, life-time support model for people with autism, that the State of North Carolina in the US has provided over 30 years. In this paper, I report my site visits to Saga University Attached School for Handicapped Children and two welfare-institutions in the same region, which have been active in introducing TEACCH programs. The purpose of this paper is to analyze several aspects of programs from a behavior analysis perspective, and provide some insights and ideas that might help improving the system.
