This paper focused on the programs that provided for advanced learning experiences to high school students who have high academic abilities in Korea, in the context of high school-university articulation which aims for quality assurance and improvement in high school education and enhancing human resources development in university education. In particular, the purpose of this paper was to analyze the characteristics of the mechanism and the form of the systems of high school- university articulation programs, specifically three advanced learning programs which was developed and promoted for academically top-level-students. First of all, overviews of the three programs (AP, UP, joint AP) were explained. Next, the programs were compared on its mechanism and its form, and then its characteristics were analyzed. Based on the comparison, the results indicated (1) there were similarities between the programs for its purpose and aim, the existence of an organization for operating and supporting related matters, and the degree of standardization of the curriculum, etc.; (2) there were three types of the ways of management of the programs between the organization, universities, and high schools, such as organization⇄high school (AP), university⇄high school (UP), university⇄organization⇄high school (joint AP); (3) there were similarities and differences on the range of organizations' authority, the selecting method of thestudents, the evaluation methods, and other matters related to the programs.
