Description

Tamataki 王滝 Kuroda 黒田 manors in the Iga 伊賀 country of the Tôdaiji 東大寺 territory have a special history as manors derived from Soma 杣, and naturally have a different character from those derived from cleared or contributed lands; and also these manors, upon which the Heike 平家 clan and other powerfull clans developed, are the important existence for our studying history of the formation of the warrior's administration. Partly because the above-mentioned two manors left many sources for students, recognition of its character and history of these manors became distorted. This article tries to remark errors in the former studies, considering that achievement of the study on those two manors has effect on the present study on the mediaeval history and at once to consider from the new angle those landlords' activities in their manors which were at the base of forming military administration. Main historical sources which I used were those of the Heian-ibun 平安遺文 edited by Dr. R. Takeuchi 竹内理三.
