Kyushu Institute of Design was established in 1968, consisting of the Faculty of Design: the dep. of Environmental, Industrial, Visual Communication and Acoustic Design, and had and has an unique idea as follows: 、Art was born from the human desire to express the human spirit throughly, and technology in modern society has been born from the application of science to, life. Therefore, technology should be based on a combination of art and science, so that we may make use of it completely..... " from the bulletin of K.I.D. In this paper, authors issue data corresponding with congress and meeting in which arguments were held to make a unique idea of design education, in order that the common consciousness should be shared with students, teachers and scholars, because the establishment of K.I.D. was about thirty years ago, and social and technical back ground have changed drastically, and now some modifications of the concept will be necessary, according to the new agenda, ecology, sustainability and so on focusing on the human being role to nature and the earth.
