This curriculum was established in the early 20th century when the U.S. kindergarten education was greatly changed. This curriculum had a significant influence on the kindergartens in those days. The characteristics of the music curriculum of the Conduct curriculum are as follows: 1. Setting a high value on children’s self-motivation, and structured in order to motivate children to take action for music activities by themselves; 2. Introduction of instrumental activities and music appreciation, which was a new initiative at that time; 3. Emphasizing to use materials which are based on children’s experiences; 4. Putting emphasis on developing children’s social skills through various music activities; 5. Emphasizing to develop children’s personality in music activities which fit their individual abilities.
