Abstract

Amino acids uptake in in Pseudomonas putida was investigated. Respiration-driven glutamate uptake in bacterial cells by means of H+ electrode was examined. The glutamate uptake was insensitive to a proton conductor, carbonyl cyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone, on the contrary sensitive to a respiration inhibitor, CN-. These results support the idea of the existence of a respiratory glutarnate pump in P, putida as a primary active transporter.
