Abstract

In recent years, the number of international students in Japan has increased. At rehabilitation institutions, the number of international students from Asia, including China, increases. The purpose of this study is to clarify the enrollment process and issues of international students majoring in rehabilitation in Japan. The method was as follows: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four Chinese students, and analysis was performed using the qualitative research software MAXQDA. As a result, there were [Harsh educational background in China] [School life with no future potential] [Decision to study abroad] [Factors for choosing Japan] [Limited medical care and welfare] [Experience related to rehabilitation] [Rehabilitation specialists aspiring events] [Conflicts before studying abroad and enrollment] [Factors for choosing an institution]. After deciding to study abroad in Japan, international students look back on their experiences in rehabilitation and enroll in institutions. It is suggested that rehabilitation institutions need to prepare a study abroad support system so that international students can enter without hesitation.
