Qualia is widely used as a meaning of “sensation”, “quality” or other similar expressions. In contrast, this paper studies qualia as the concept of “quality” in semantics which is described by both quantitative and qualitative variables. Measurements on qualia have been challenged for more than twenty years, researches and data analysis on qualia from Japan’s oldest historical records Kojiki to modern works appear to be organized methodically. As an example, this paper discusses the qualitative variables of “Snow” in The Tale of Genji and The Pillow Book.
