Abstract

TANZAN ISHIBASHI was famous journalist in modern Japan. He was a liberal, democrat and patriot. In his argument for NICHIREN who was renowned Buddhist in middle Japan, there are two features. The first is that it is a method of criticizing political, economical, social situation. The second is that it reflect his patriotism. Under a critical situation, Asia-pacific war and Korean war, he was upset by patriotism. However, he regained his own confidence through the discussion about NICHIREN and overcame the shake. Patriotism is an essential issue in study of ISHIBASHI's political thought. It is important to examine argument about NICHIREN.
