Abstract
The objective of the article is to explain the history of the wages system reform since post-war period to now as plainly as possible. The history has been a history of the changes of how factors comprising work force attributes such as age, seniority, ability and etc. should be reflected on the pay rise. Thus the annual pay rise tables are observed historically. The changes can be summarized as changes from 'the age and seniority' to 'the competency to perform the jobs' then finally to 'the role.' We thus can distinguish the difference between so called previous 'the meritocratic based system' and current so called 'the performance system.'
