Abstract

This story will be performed in Uji and Gion. Uji was the place where Kamematsu and Tane, the parents of Yamasen were born (Yamamoto Senji; 1882~1920, a sexologist and expert of birth control pragmatist), and Gion was a the area Tane's friend Taka lived. In the Taisho era, Natsume Soseki, Matsui Sumako and Shimamura Hogetsu often visited Gion, and there was a big boom of light novels (famous writers where Hasegawa Shigure and Nagata Mikihiko, and Yoshii Isamu who published Gion Yawa) Still now, a party called "Kanikakuni festival" is annually held in the late autumn: many Maiko and Geisha get together at Shirakawa riverside in memory of that time.
