Abstract

This study examines the Presentation of Mary in the Temple, painted by Tiziano for Sala dell' Albergo of the Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Carità, by analyzing the function of confraternity in the entire painting of Albergo. Previous studies dealt with this painting singly, although Marriage of Mary and Annunciation were painted shortly after Presentation. I reiterate that three stories of Mary have the same motifs, woman with child and scene of charity. I consider this woman as an allegory of Caritas due to the analogue of form. This motif symbolizes the spirit of confraternity and the Venetian government.
