In this thesis, we describe the preparation of rare earth^+ doped strontium oxide phosphors using the solid-state reaction method and the evaluation of their luminescence properties. We systematically changed the incorporation of Ga in the phosphor and investigated their photoluminescence (PL) properties. We found that the phosphor exhibited the red luminescence attributed to ^5D_0 → ^7F_2 electronic transition of Eu^3+ when Ga dope in SrAl_2O_49. Moreover from the result of our research of its optical properties, we found unique characteristics not found elsewhere.
