Description
In this thesis, the traffic capacity and safety performance of the ''Keep-Left Except-To-Pass Rule'' are studied for two-lane freeway traffic. The traffic flow is simulated by a cellular automaton model with various parameters. Especially, two parameters, the overtaking desire and the state change probability, are introduced to describe the behavior of overtaking . From the simulated data, five quantities are observed to test the performance of traffic capacity and safety.
