Abstract

<p> The relationship between business history and management has changed since around 2000 and there has been a debate among business historians about methodology and the significance of studying business history. This paper shows that the changing environment found in business history is also the case in retail research, and highlights the effectiveness of historical approaches in retail research.</p>
