Abstract

Through this series, we have seen the path of entrepreneurs who have contributed to the development of science and technology information distribution that led to the present by accurately capturing the needs of the times, putting ideas born from nothing to practical use. In this paper, I will overview our attempts to bring a new breath to academic information, life science information, and intellectual property information. There were 19 M&As related to science and technology in the last two years, taking an account of content expansion and the use of AI technology. The value of a content provider's existence as a business has shifted from “raw data assets” to analytics-driven insights that help practitioners work. As an example, we look over the four acquisitions of Clarivate, which are expected to play important roles in the ecosystem in their respective fields, such as AI technology, content, and workflow support. These actions in the information business will be viewed from the perspective of experts actively involved in the industry community.
