Abstract

Since the beginning of 2020, a new coronavirus, COVID-19, has been rampant throughout the world, greatly affecting the economic activities of many countries. As a result, the demand for travel by people, especially intercity travel, has decreased, and the supply of domestic flights has been adjusted by reducing the number of flights.

This paper collected flight data using "Flightrader24, " a private flight log data disclosure site, and quantitatively analyzed the changes in the number of flights and the number of seats provided, focusing on seven routes to and from Haneda Airport. As a result, it was confirmed that while the number of flights was reduced or cancelled according to the spread of the infection, the minimum level of service was maintained by changing to smaller aircraft. In addition, it was confirmed that large aircraft continued to be used on routes to remote islands such as Hokkaido and Okinawa in order to secure cargo transport capacity.
