Description

Long-term meteorological measurements were conducted in the period between June 1950 and June 2020, in Sawara district, Kyushu University. Although the meteorological data were partly shown in different types of annual reports in Kyushu University Forest, they have not been compiled as a long-term dataset yet. To confirm the data quality with measurement methodology through the whole measurement period, we synthesized the long-term meteorological data such as monthly air temperature and precipitation in Sawara. Also, we compared the meteorological data in Sawara with those of the Fukuoka meteorological observatory from the Japan Weather Association. Consequently, we found year-to-year differences of the relationships between the data measured in Sawara and the Fukuoka meteorological observatory, in particular, in the first stage of the measurements(i.e., ~1970's), probably resulting from measurement errors and changes in methodology in the period.
