[要約] 本研究は，保育所の規模と保育のプロセスの質及び１-２歳児の社会情動的能力の発達との関連について検討するために，保育所に通う１-２歳児の養育者とその担任保育士を対象に質問紙調査を行った。分析の結果，以下の３点が明らかとなった。⑴「子どもの問題行動得点」は養育者の子どもへの応答性及び世帯収入と負の相関があった。⑵「大規模」保育所に在籍する子どもは「中規模」保育所と比較して「子どもの問題行動得点」が高かった。⑶「中規模」保育所の保育のプロセスの質は「小規模」保育所と比較して「子ども主体」得点が高く，「大規模」保育所と比較して「あたたかい雰囲気」得点が高かった。これらの結果は，世帯収入による養育者の心理状態の安定や，保育士間の連携の在り方，保育士が担当する子どもの数が影響していると考えられる。また，「中規模」保育所は「小規模」保育所及び「大規模」保育所と比較して保育のプロセスの質を高める効果があることが示唆された。

[SUMMARY] The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among the size of the childcare center, the quality of the childcare process, and the development of socio-emotional competence of 1-2-year-old children. A questionnaire survey was conducted on parents of 1-2-year-old children attending the childcare centers and their homeroom teachers. The results were following: (1) “Problem scores on children’s problem behaviors” were negatively correlated with the responsiveness of parents and the household income to children; (2) Children in “large” childcare centers had higher “Problem scores on children’s problem behaviors” than those in “medium” childcare centers; and (3) Children in “large” childcare centers had higher “warm atmosphere” scores than those in “small” childcare centers. These results suggest that household income helps to stabilize the psychological state of the parents, and that the way in which the childcare center teachers cooperate with each other and the number of children the caregivers are responsible for have an effect on these results. In addition, it was indicated that “medium” childcare centers were more effective in improving the quality of childcare than “small” childcare centers and “large” childcare centers.
