Description

J17-IS is the curriculum standard in Information Systems composed by IPSJ (Information Processing Society of Japan) based on the computing curricula by the ACM-AIS joint task force. In this research, we have developed a network-based visualization system for J17-IS named "glanceIS," which aims to reveal the curriculum characteristics, providing an overview of the curriculum to support both users and developers of the curriculum standard. Based on their co-occurrence, the proposed system shows a network view between LUs (Learning Units) and ISBOKs. The user can explore the network with the web-based interface. The trial results showed that: (1) the network was able to express the characteristics of the Information Systems field, and (2) some of the current J17-IS issues were revealed, such as missing LUs, ISBOKs, and especially the state of the art topics.
