Description

Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is a histiocytic proliferative disease of unknown etiology. The main lesions are located in the lymph nodes, but extranodal lesions may also be present. Additionally, cases with lesions confined to the skin have been reported as cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman disease (cRDD).

There is no established treatment for cRDD. However, there are various reports, including surgical excision, antibacterial agents, topical, intravenous, and oral steroids, thalidomide, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, with surgical excision being the most effective treatments. Since we experienced a case of cRDD, we summarized the case reported in Japan and discussed surgical resection and recurrent cases.[Skin Cancer (Japan) 2022 ; 37 : 52-57]
