Description

Cognitive behavioral therapy has evolved with the development of scales that measure invisible constructs. Patient-Reported Outcome Measure (PROM) refers to a measure of a patient's health status that is informed by the patient's own direct report and does not involve modification or interpretation. Understanding the measurement properties of PROMs through a systematic review can also be helpful in selecting the appropriate PROM for measuring a concept in a clinical or research setting. This paper aims to explain (1) guidelines for the systematic review of PROMs, (2) guidelines for core outcome sets, and (3) guidelines for content validity that were particularly revised in 2018, based on the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) methodology.
