Description

<p>Usnea fragilescens Lynge is reported as new to the lichen flora of Japan. It is known only from southeast Hokkaido in northern Japan. Japanese specimens contain barbatic, 4-O-demethylbarbatic, and protocetraric acids as major lichen substances. This chemical strain is newly reported for this taxon.</p>
