Nara & Kyoto city have already registered with the World Heritage List, but Kamakura city has not been yet. Kamakura was the first administrative municipality created by the samurai ruling class. Minamoto Yoritomo establised the seat of samurai political rule in Kamakura in 1180. The samurai created an independent political system in Kamakura known as the “Bakufu” (shogunate), which was centered on a ruling general or shogun, and under which legislation was established forming the foundation for 700 years of samurai administrative rule. There has never been any case like a unique political system in the history of world. Just Kamakura has still succeeded to the present day an appeal for the history and tradition of Kamakura in the Middle Ages. Culture and life style established by the society of the Samurai have ever had a greate infuence on the thinking and behaving of Japanese people.
