Description
The spray combustion characteristics of OME3 were investigated using numerical simulation. Spray observation was made in a constant volume vessel and numerical simulations are validated via the experimental data. The calculation results give good agreement with the experiments. The results show that equivalence ratios inside OME3 spray are smaller than diesel fuel because the stoichiometric air/fuel ratio is small. OME3 spray has a wider high temperature region, and CO and NO are formed earlier compared with diesel fuel. Higher concentration of CH2O is formed near the center of OME3 spray, which suggests the low temperature oxidation proceeds inside the spray.
