Abstract

EHD analysis has been utilized in the development of engine bearings, taking into account elastic deformation of the structure and solid contact. However, running-in process has not sufficiently considered irrespective of the importance for performance prediction. The relationship between the surface profile parameters of the Greenwood-Tripp elastic contact model and the amount of truncation at asperities is experimentally clarified. The amount of wear calculated by the proposed model, which updates the surface profile sequentially, agrees well with the experiment.
