Abstract

[Purpose] The purpose was to investigate the effect of the joint mobilization technique focusing on the kinematic movement of the ankle on the action of squat down and the range of motion of the ankle dorsiflexion.[Subject] 20 healthy subjects were evaluated as incapable of squatting down by a preliminary survey. [Methods] The measurement items were the floor-buttock distance and the ankle dorsiflexion range of motion. The measurement was performed twice with an interval of 4 days or more. [Result] A significant difference was found in the improvement rate between the floor-buttock distance before and after the joint mobilization. [Discussion] Regarding the decrease in the distance between the floor and buttocks, the joint mobilization caused loosening of the joint capsule behind the ankle joint, and the function of facilitating weight transfer to the forefoot affected the improvement of squatting down.
