Abstract
<p> There is a possibility that a gate which allows the simultaneous flow under and over sluice gate can keep the advantages of these individual flow systems with reducing the weekpoints of them, which imagines the perspective from the view point of water management. But it seems that there is no satisfactory theoretical study which enables the design for this type of structure. The present paper proposes the method of calculating the total discharge as the root of a quadratic equation employing the momentum theorem and the equation for discharge over a weir. The calculation method proposed in this study was verified using the previous experimental data, and good agreement was obtained. Thus the validity of the proposed method is implied.</p>
