Abstract

Spray heights of a boom sprayer were tested to improve efficacy of chemical control of onion downy mildew. When spray height was 30 cm from the top of the plants, chemical adhesion was good on the central part of the leaf blade and basal part of the inner leaf. When the spray was level with the top of the plants, chemical adhesion to the central part of the leaf blade was poor, and control efficacy of downy mildew was inferior. Guidance should thus be provided on appropriate spraying techniques based on the relationship between spray height, chemical adhesion, and control efficacy against downy mildew obtained in this study.
